Hey Steve

I got off work late this evening, then had band practice (every Thursday evening) until 9:00-9:30pm or so.
So I didn't get a chance to mess with them at all.
Possibly tomorrow...

well... I tried to disassemble one of the '68 horns...

They're held together with 9 rivets that would need to be drilled out and replaced with nuts and bolts
... that's alot more work than it's worth...

Hey ford4x4fun

Most of the time, I play accoustic /electric guitar now,
Until a couple of years ago I was primarily a bass player...
I also play hand drums... congas & djembe...
My latest endever is learning to play the Irish tin whistle...
I just got a new one delivered from Dublin a couple of weeks ago.
I lost my other one and looked every where for a replacement...
I bought a differant one from the local music store, but it was a piece of junk, so I ordered a new Feadog professional one made in nickel silver... man does it sound good...

Thanks for askin'

Hey BiggDogg,

We are actually a church worship band...
A not so traditional one I might add.
We do stuff that's alttle outta the "religious" box.. and would probably not be well taken at more traditional mainline churches.
We play a lot of differant styles ranging from classical & traditional stuff to
rock... I am an old school rocker, and most of my musical influences come outta southern country/rock...
Marshall Tucker, Charlie Daniels, Lynard Skynard etc...
A lot of what we do has a strong Irish / Celtic influence...
If I do a hymn you can bet it is gonna be kicked up abit and sound more like an Irish party band song...
It's alot of fun...
Anyways, I gotta get goin'... take care

First off... What is an Irish Tin Whistle... I havent a clue... I play guitar, not great by no means, and I sing a little... The only time I have performed for anyone was on a dinner boat in Nashville called the General Jackson.... I performed a song I wrote for my now wife in front of 150 people give or take a few. I have never been so scared, I would have prefered to be back in OIF 1. Than asked her to marry me. (YES She Cried It Was Awsome) Anyhow, that is kewl I would like to hear your band, I bet it has a pretty cool twist to it. I like the Irish Folk Songs...

And I found some of the intertainment for the National Bump Days if we ever have one!

Hey ford4x4fun...

To answer yer question...
An Irish tin whistle is a type of flute...
There is also a Low D Irish flute...
The most common one you hear in Irish music is the Tin whiste.
It's an olde style flute that used to be made out of tin.
Now they are usually made out nickle, brass or pvc.
I'm just starting to learn so it's gonna be a whlie before i'm ready to put it into the mix...

I wish I could pick up and just learn something... I have really had to struggle with the guitar, and still seam to be stuck in slump on some issues. Picking is real hard for me, but I am getting better at it. My biggest downfal is strum pattern. I am so locked into the same strum pattern, that it isn't funny.

I am going to have to look that Irish Tin Whistle Up, just to see it.

Let me know if Robert can't hook you up with the horns as I took mine off of my 72 and went with air horns, or as my wife refers to them as (OBNOXIOUS horns). I've had them on every truck I've owned since the first one in 1978 and they're still working obnoxiously( snicker snicker!) anyways the others are in my shop waiting in case tyou need them! Jim
