1971 F-250 Sport Custom Camper Special Project Updates

Post by jellette »

BAD NEWS:

Says $1500 on Craigslist but the reserve is only $750 on eBay.

This is my 1971 F-250 Sport Custom Camper Special. In the beginning it was still all original Sea Foam Green. Some purests may not like it but it is not going to stay that way. Just follow my progress and you will soon see which direction I am going to take this truck. I will post regular updates of my restore/mod progress here.

As it sat when purchased:

April 19th and 20th 2008. I have to drive this thing around so the interior is where I am starting.

Here is the before (a little hard to see through the window, sorry):

Here is the chrome and black prep work and the new black dash:

Here is the final black, chrome and candy apple red dash area. I went ahead and rattle can painted the under dash heater vents and components since they were already cleaned up and just needed a little touch up. I am not sure why that bottom panel looks crinkled because it isn't. There is a good reason that some of those chrome pieces were rechromed and some were painted over which will become evident later on:

After removing the trailor hitch that is visable in the pics above, removing and taping trim I was able to get this back panel cleaned up and primed and ready to paint. It might not be noticable in the pics above but it needed some work and btw it's not coming off its frame until I'm done with the interior:

*************************************************************

Today I will start the prep work on the rest of the interior and pick up the new seat, steering wheel, hood, tailgate, carpet and a few other little things.[/url]

If it Looks good and Works good then it's ok by me. Everything has its issues from time to time...

whats wong the hood and gate on her now?

and if your replacing them but they are still usable and your close enough to the mo/ok stateline could i take the old ones off your hands? anything realy nasty about the old seat or just the color?

and are you keeping those bars on the bed?

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

A good size dent under the "R" on the hood and another good one on the tail gate - the seat is pretty much wasted on the drivers side. I am in Tulsa. The bars on the bed haven't been decided on yet.
