Pull the glove box out and reach around and loosen the nut holding the back side of the radio onto the bracket...Although I haven' figured out how to do it w/o scratching the pushbuttons a little bit...

Yep Joe is on it,

Remove the glove box, it is real tight in there. The truck I did it in, the Defrost tubing was even out of the way and it was still a little difficult to get right!

I've found it makes the job easier if you also take out the ashtray assembly to get at both the speaker and the radio. The paper glove boxes come out easier with the glove box door removed as well.

Also being a 69 I'd be really carfeful when removing the emergency flasher switch from the paper glove box and the connector for it too as they have a tendency to come apart really easy from the back where they're crimped together.

PPs. ...Make darn sure you have a good speaker in there...That was the reason I took my radio out in the first place...And make sure that little 2 amp fuse doesn't fall out of the socket when you're re-connecting it, like it did with some idiot I know ...

But I don't think they're the same. I mean, the bracket that holds the speaker in the dash attaches to the magnet of the speaker. The newer speakers have larger magnets and don't always fit into the radio dash opening.

You could get the old one re-coned.
