Hey Jeff,

This was the other half of the statement that I was referring to...
If the gauge is fried, it will prevent power from getting to the ignition switch.
The ammeter uses a shunt in the front harness to supply power to the ammeter, it is not connected in line with any power source. It wont affect anything with the truck running...
It's only getting a small sample of what is going on from the outside, that is why the gauge hardly moves... volt meters are much better for reading what the alternator is doing... hence the reason they went away from the amp gauge.

Now, if it was the idiot light for the alternator that was burned out then the alternator wouldn't work... :)

If it Looks good and Works good then it's ok by me. Everything has its issues from time to time...

When you turn the ignition switch, brake light comes on but that's it. I tried adjusting the NSS according to an earlier thread I found here and it made no difference. The turn signal switch works to some extent because the rear lights blink like they should.

What I'm leaning toward right now is swapping out the ignition switch and seeing if that has an impact. If not, get the beastie towed over to JR's and see what Don can do. I need to get the transmission leak looked at anyway. It makes me sick walking past it sitting the driveway doing nothing but dripping transmission fluid.

If it is the NSS, I'll go ahead and replace it. My goal here is to restore the truck as much as I can to original operating condition (mechanically and physically).
