installed a grant steering wheel but...

ok got it on and my horn doesnt work the copper part of the grant wheel hub doesnt touch anything on the column so there is no contact. also i have a 1/4 or so gap from teh column to the hub adapter, turn signals cancel both way and it doesnt touch if there not on like the instructions say.

if i am missing my horn brush assembly i need a new one, but does it stick out past the mounting hole for it or is it flush>?

and i know ill add some pics when it is a better time of day

I had problems with my Grant adaptor, come to find out, Summit Racing had sent me the wrong one.
Because I had installed it, I had to buy another one...
There is a carbon contact that goes in a hole on top of turn signal switch,

underneath the hub. If it isn't there, it won't work.
It makes contact with the back of the hub, the wire goes from the hub to the front plate.

The spring pushes up on the horn button...
pushing it in causes it to ground out on the hub.
The horn button provides the ground which completes the circuit for the horns to sound.
You might do a quick check on the horns themselves.
Touch a hot wire from the battery to the mail connector on the horn...
the horn should sound. I found out that both of my horns were bad.

I musta had my wheel off half a dozen times, and I'm still not completely satisfied. I had to remove the stock canceling tab.
If you have the correct hub and there is still a gap, you may need to loosen the two bolts that bolt the column to the dash and pull the column toward the wheel.

yeah i triple checked the install kit through summit and grant to make sure cause summit listed 2 different ones.

it was a little dark out when i was doing it so i never noticed if i had the horn components or nots since the old wheel didnt have the horn pad in the wheel. the PO added one of those universal mount horn buttons.

and the horn did work with the uni button but i didnt test it out this time. ill have to tinker with it some more and see if the right parts are there

Not trying to hijack here but that's a cool wheel Kaptn and could be a good fit for my '69 too (style-wise). How much and where? Is it a Grant? I hope to see your pics soon too Shawn. Is it the same one you have?
