yup. pretty nasty for being inclosed with some gasoline, and also i forgot to add that this engine only has 63,500 original miles, so i hate to think of what other members engines look like with more miles
maybe this will inspire you to rebuild your engine
does anybody know what the second set of holes is for on the sides of an FE? is one set for cars and one for trucks?

Good clean up job. Someone correct me if I'm wrong and Ryan I'm not trying to rain on your parade. That pic of the top of your piston has
.020 stamped on it---that's the way they mark oversized (.010,.020,.030)
pistons If I am correct--that lower end already been bored and re-pistoned at 64000 mls? Again I say I could be wrong, but thats how my HD
pistons were marked
take the oil pan off if you havent already and look inside. i had piston skirt in mine...........from the top end mine looked exactly like yours. just a warning.
wow jsut wow I just wish i could get that kinda work done. Keep up the good work

WOOOT!! i passed my mechanics classes. Now working as a mechanic and waiting to go for my ASE certifications.
67mann, you are correct, this thing has been bored .020 over. I am having a hard time believing that had to be done on a motor with so few miles. Maybe a little more investigation into the vehicles history would be in order.
WOW, I missed this update the other day I guess. Great progress there. That is one solid looking truck, have you found any really bad spots of rust at all?

rust? whats that?
there is NO heavy rust or rust holes at alll
the corners of the floorpans are the worst rust on the whole truck, and that was light surface rust
don't know on the rebuilt/oversized stuff your rtunning into but if that paint in the can is still good cool.
perhaps the neighbor see's that your not some punk kid painting everything the easy/nasty way.
plus you did put up a fence/tarp shelter type thing.
