Tis true. Found a vac leak cuase the carb was a little loose. It was driving fine but today it just started idling rough. when i tightened the carb down on the nuts for the carb to spacer/masnifold studs it acted a little better.
then i found a loose wire on the cap #5 to be exact.
pushed it back down on the cap.
the other day it did act like it only had enough volts for half a crank. but waiting 20 minutes and it fired right up without any problems.
it was surging on the way home tonight, and idling real low in gear, after i fixed the problems above it now idles rough but does stay running. but the lights on the cab flicker real bad. the rest of the lights seem ok but i do have that relay in.
i'm gonna replace the belts tommorrow cuase i needs them, if that doesn't help what next? could it be just the volt reg? if so i'll go ahead and upgrade to my 100 amp alternator/regulator and harness. can the amp guage/shunt handle the extra amps/volts?
there be gremlins in me engine compartment. Fixed TY

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

I don't really care about brands Chevy Ford Dodge ...as long as it doesn't sound like two old dudes farting in a coffee can.

The ammeter should handle the big alt just fine. The way the stock ammeter is wired it shows you the current draw you are using. So unless you have a bunch of KC daylighters wired in down stream of the ammeter.

ok cool. also found the coil to distributor cap wire(high tension lead?) was arching along itself even without anything near it. Changed it out for a spare and that took some of the roughness out of the idle.
Well The altm battery and voltreg check out.
Noticed a real bad bogg down when accelerating on the way to the parts house.
Got a rebuild kit for the carb and some carb cleaner. came out fired it up and the rough idle was gone.
hope this ain't one of those come and go problems. Could it have been just Bad Gas from Murphy usa/Wal*Mart?
