Wires to ignition system
The harness that comes int the firewall close to the wiper motor has 3 wires. A red wire, a white wire, and a red wire with a white stripe. Where are these 3 wires supposed to be connected?

if you mean under the hood, on a 72, white is the oil sending unit. Red and white to temp sensor and red to poaitive side of coil.
if under the dash i'm not sure.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

re: Wires to ignition system
That is what I was talking about. Would it cause any problems to share that power to the coil with the power to an electronic ignition brain?

That power to the coil is NOT 12V it is only around 6-9 Volts so the electronic ignition probably wont like that...FormerMarine1981 wrote:That is what I was talking about. Would it cause any problems to share that power to the coil with the power to an electronic ignition brain?
What ignition are you trying to use?

re: Wires to ignition system
It's the factory electronic ignition out of a 76 Torino so I believe it is a Duraspark 2

re: Wires to ignition system
Ok, here is some good info on that;
http://www.mustangsteve.com/conversion.html
http://webpages.charter.net/1bad6t/duraspark.html
http://www.bzerob1.com/tech2/duraspark1.html
You need to tap into the line by the ignition switch so that you get the full 12V before it goes into the resistive wire, if you are going to use the same coil(one that came on the truck)... http://www.bzerob1.com/tech2/duraspark1.html
If you are using the newer style coil it needs 12V supplied to it as well, so you need to remove the resistive wire all together. http://www.mustangsteve.com/conversion.html

re: Wires to ignition system
I found those in the other thread today after I posted this one. They have made this more clear for me but wiring just confuses me
