There's a great article on drive shafts in the latest Classic Truck mag. The reason i bring it up is because a previous owner replaced my dual drive shafts for a modified single shaft.
Though I never had a problem with the single shaft, going back a C-6 is making me rethink my set-up.

re: drive shaft article
This truck came with 390 and FMX. One of the previous owners had installed a car set-up. Looks like they used the car's drive shaft too. I can see where they extended or shortened it. I'm looking to restore the origional set-up including C-6 and two shafts.

I want (someday ) to put a C6 in my truck in place of the T18 4spd. it has now. I would be interested in knowing what you had to do to the driveshafts to make it work.

You'll have to take a drive up my way sometime this winter (it's only an hour or so away) and take the C-6 and 2-piece driveshaft off my hands. Both came from a '68 FE-equipped truck, so it would be perfect for what you need. They sure ain't doin' ME any good! The C-6 has the bolt-on yoke, but the driveshafts will mate right up to it.flyboy2610 wrote:I want (someday ) to put a C6 in my truck in place of the T18 4spd. it has now. How much do you want for them? I know where West Point is. I used to have to deliver a load of lawn fertilizer (once a year) to Vaughan (?) Beed, the guy that owns the cattle hauling outfit. I used to go through West Point a lot on my way to deliver to CPS in Thurston.
If you want to get rid of them. i would be happy to have them.

Can I have your T-18? Just kidding, logistics to get it here would be a little tough. I like the T-18 tho as a 4 speed 'cause you don't have to mash the center passengers leg to use reverse. Be ready to give up a little power and mileage with the C/6. Parasitic drain on the C/6 is rumored to be as high as 30 horsepower.
Great ideas have always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.
