Did the best safety upgrade yet on th 72. I fixed the jumpy speedo. I figure that will be alot safer on tickets! The guy before me had let the cable get on the exhaust sometime in the past. The housing was burned all way to the metal reinforcements mesh. It was not touching it when I got it, so I never investigated to see the burn. I pulled the center out to clean the cable. I cleaned and lubed. Tried to put it back to no luck. It got stuck going back. I investigated and found the burned housing. Tried to get a new one. Advance Auto, Oreilly, Autozone had nothing. LMC had them, but I didn't want to wait so long. Called NAPA Friday morning. They had the 84 inch cable. It was longer than my factory, but it was all they could get. I got it today and put it on. I re-routed it to use up the slack and also to keep it away from trouble. It works seamlessly. No jump at all. Smooth without all the clicks and pops also. I am happy to get it back on the road. It was down for a couple of days. That was just a couple too many! Hope this might help someone with a similar problem. Otherwise, this is just a bunch of useless babbling!!!
