Dual horns???

Post by papabug71 »

Anyone have the factory dual horns? My truck had dual horns on it when we got it from my grandpa. The low note horn went out years back & like a retard I chunked it. Wish I would have held onto it now. The dual note horns have a great sound!!

Thanks fordman, but the horn you have is the one that I still have.

Im beginning to think my low note horn was something my grandpa had rigged up from some old parts in his shop. He was pretty slick about that. It was hard to tell, because it was a fomoco part.

oh well. no biggie, thanks for the help!

i seen one of htose large ones on a 73 ranger at the junkyard once. i didnt think it was factory.i thought i took it off the truck just to see if it was any good. i dont remember if i took it or if i left it now. if i kept it it is buried in a box here in the house someplace. another reason i didnt think it was factory was becuase it wasn't attached very well.

Are the low tones not the same horn as the one horn setup horn? I got one of the big ones here somewhere. I need to hunt it out for the 72. I like the low tone it makes.

the low horn has a low picth to it and the high horn has a higher pitch to it than the low horn. they are different in looks also. slightly. plus it will say HI on it.

I bought a bunch of parts a few weeks ago. I got 3 Ford horns. One is the same as the one on my truck, and then one a little bigger, and the third is bigger than that. I'll get some pics up in a few days. I was thinking of rigging all three. Do I need a bigger relay for all that horn?

I have dual horns on mine. I simply ran a hot wire from horn 1 to horn 2 and adjusted the diaphrams until I had to tones that I was pleased with. You can see pictures on my website.

Good luck with the wedding in May. ( Sorry, I had to look around  ). You need another bolt for that license plate.

Thank you for the good luck. We are really looking forward to it. She will be a great wife.

Funny you mention that about the license plate. If you look close enough, you can see the tags ran out in '04. My buddy that relies on me for my mechanical skills made the same comment and said that he would be willing to help me with straightening it out.

My '83 only had one horn, and it was marked with the Ford oval and "LO". I saved the horn.
