Re: Pics of tachs installed
I personally don't like tachs that read five thousand RPM above what I'll ever run...
It'd be cool hanging down from the sun visor area though... Top corner of the windshield so it's not obstructing the original panel.

Re: Pics of tachs installed
Dont have it installed yet...the interior is almost ready for paint....just rebuilt this tach that came with the truck. primed and painted flat black, polished the outer ring, new lens and painted the red needle and red line triangle. It will go on the left side of the colum down low. (how do ya get the pic on the post page so you dont have to click on the link??)

Here's the places I've had my tach. I personally like it best on the piller

Re: Pics of tachs installed
If you don't mind spending some big money, here's another idea. Use a '65 Mustang Rally Pac with a 6K rpm tach.
Here is a picture I borrowed from http://www.mustangsunlimited.com
This also gives you a nice clock. and both are 2-5/8" gauges. The '65 gauges sit higher than the '66 series. I just measured the column on my '66 Mustang and it's the same 2-1/4" diameter as the '79 tilt column (and I'm thinking the '67-'72 is probably the same).
At Mustangs Unlimited they are ~ $450. I picked up a nice used reproduction Rally Pac from eBay (for the '66) for $150.00
Originally the 6K tach was for the 6 cylinder cars, but the repro Rally Pacs that I've seen can be used for 6 or 8 cylinder. You can also get the 8K or 9K tach in the repros.

I refinished this F600 cluster Two-Bit sold me from an old Uhaul truck. I had this unused Suntach from the early 90's sitting around that seemed to fit well.

Man, the f-600 clusters look just as good painted as they do chrome. Im going to have to pull a couple of them for future projects....
