Re: emergency flashers
was it working before the swap? if not check the fuses first and then check the power to and from the switch.

Yes it could!floyd67 wrote:could it be the hazard switch?
The front emergency lights are switched and run via the emergency switch, they don't use or run through the turn signal switch.
Look at this diagram http://www.fordification.com/images/sch ... ghts02.jpg at the wires (2A) and (3A) off the emergency warning switch; they are what supplies the power to the front lights from the emergency flasher by the power (385) wire. The 810A wire goes through the turn signal switch for the power to the rear bulbs.

Re: emergency flashers
if the switch is bad i bet you could jump across its terminals and make the flashers work. that is if you jump the plug terminals. that would be my guess. i cant really tell you how to do it unless i spent some time going over the schematics on the wiring page. but if it was here i would probably start crossing terminals until i figured it out. i doubt that i would burn anything up. so if you try it check to se whihc wire is in and which wires go out to the lights. also something you might try is changing the flasher can under the dash on the right side of the steering column. you can just reach up under there and probably find it. if you do get another one make sure to get a heavy duty one. or a flasher type. its the same thing just two different names for it.

Re: emergency flashers
ok so its down tothe switch or the wiring. you'll have to check it out to see. it is sounding more like the switch every moment but could it be a ground. i dont know i am not that experienced with the flashers on our trucks.

Re: emergency flashers
wire number 40 (blue with white stripe) comes from the fuse box and turns into wire 383 (red with white stripe) which goes to the flasher can. that is your power wire. from the flasher can you have wire number 385(white with a red stripe) that give the pulses of power to the switch. if you have pulses of power there then thats good. if not check the fuse. wire 810a hooks into 810 and goes into the instrument cluster to light up the blinker pilot lights in the cluster. then on to he back brake lights. so take a junmper wire from wire number 385 and junp it to wire number 810a (red with black stripe) it should work. if it doesnt then go back to the switch and replace it.as long as the fuse is good. you can also test with a jumper wire to wires 2a and 3a to make sure those blink also. if the fuse is good and the wire is hot to the flasher and then out ofthe flasher and you can junmp past the switch in this way the switch is bad. try that and see what happens. if you have a good fuse but no power from the fuse it could be the connector on the back of the fuse block went bad.

Re: emergency flashers
A 1967 F100 has the glove box style emergency flasher switch like the Mustangs, Fairlanes, Falcons, Galaxies, 1968 and 1969 F Series Trucks and so on, right?
Do the front turn signals blink, on the BRIGHT bulb element? If they do, the wiring to those lights is ok.
Check to see that the emergency flasher switch isn't seperating and making a weak contact on one end. I had an emergency flasher switch in a 1966 Mustang cause a similar problem. The switch is assembled and there are small crimped notches in the metal housing of the flasher switch holding the two halves of the switch together. After years of use I guess some of them loosen up with constant operation of the switch.
It could be something as simple as a dirty contact inside of the emergency flasher switch. Run the switch back and forth from on to off and on to off and on to off to "wipe" the contacts inside of the switch.
IF your rear emergency flashers are blinking with the switch on and the fronts aren't I would look to the emergency flasher switch.

Re: emergency flashers
crap. the price has gone up then. they used to only be 85.00 for them. as far as i know they are the only ones selling them too. sedn me your old one and i'll rebuild it. it probably just needs taken apart and cleaned anyway. getting it back together is the hard part. but i have done it.
