Re: need pics of F250 leaf 4x4 front
Todd, not sure if it's still there, but there was a thread I started in the buildup section about switching a 78 F-350 crew to a 4x4 and installing a Cummins. There were a few good shots of how I made the engine stands and crossmember.
If you have access to a highboy frame I would splice the highboy frame into the crew 2wd frame under the cab. It would be far cleaner than making all your own frame parts.
Look at it like this- to convert the front of your frame to a highboy setup you are going to pull the whole drivetrain, completely remove every crossmember and bracket off the front frame rails and modify/build a ton of stuff to make it work. Way, way easier to just have the 2 frames side by side, do some real careful measuring, make 4 cuts and 2 nice welds where nobody will see them. Put the 2wd body back on with a 4x4 steering column and drop your engine in with a 4x4 tranny and mated t-case.
