Fuel source selector valve: has this been reproduced?

Hi Folks!

Has the gas tank selection valve been reproduced by anybody?



Mine is extremely stiff to switch back and forth.

Also, what are those two things sticking up with the rubber caps?

Yes, those are actually a pretty common item at any parts store. They might not be exact replicas, but will work just fine.

Those are simply small rubber caps on the end of the mounting screws, to keep you from scratching your fingers when you operate the valve.

I'm surprised that those are common items! An exact replica may not be too important to me so this could work out.

Mine was very difficult to move when I first got my '68 but i Lubed it up and just kept working it and now it's easy to move. BTW, they make the 3 way (2 in and 1 out) in 3/8 but they no longer make the 4 way (3 in 1 out) in 3/8 as far as I can tell. That's why on my '68 I lubed mine and kept working at it until it loosened up a bit. My '68 has 2 saddle tanks so I needed the 4 way valve.

Try marine shops for the parts because your average auto parts counter person will try to look it up in his computer and he won't find it there. These are common in older boats with multiple tanks.

What did you end up doing? I live in SoCal also and I need to replace this part also....mine has a small leak in the bottom, wouldn't be too bad but the last owner mounted the muffler directly underneath, so my leak is directly on top of the exhaust, not soo good.
Did you replace and what did you use, from where?

you can replace them. but you can also rebuild them. the botl on the bottom of yours probably needs tightened.

For the time being I bypassed the valve and connected the fuel tank directly to the engine. I don't have the aux tank installed under the bed anyways.

So I haven't done anything about the valve yet!
