Reverse light switch
I have gone from a 3 on the tree setup to a 4 speed floor shifter. What do I need to do to make my backup lights work now. The original setup had a button attached to a bracket on the column that pushed in when I moved the old tree into reverse. What should I do to make this work with my new setup?

Re: Reverse light switch
You need a reverse light switch which attaches to the tranny shifter linkage.
It looks like this one... denis carpeter or LMC would carry it.

6T7Merc That is one for an Automatic, it will not work for a manual transmission...6T7Merc wrote:You need a reverse light switch which attaches to the tranny shifter linkage.

theogre5150 On the 4 speed transmission there should be a switch that is screwed in the side of the trans it will look like this below... It will have the 2 wire connection and you just have to run the wires from where the column switch is mounted to this switch on the trans, or find the wire harness from a parts truck that goes from the trans to the plug there in the engine compartment (same place it is connected for the column)theogre5150 wrote: I have gone from a 3 on the tree setup to a 4 speed floor shifter. Re: Reverse light switch
Did you install a T-18 4-speed transmission in your truck or did you convert it to a Toploader 4 Speed transmission from a car?
If you installed a Toploader the reverse light switch that installs on the shift linkages looks different than the two shown in the previous posts. If you installed a Toploader you will need to do some modifying to the reverse light wiring to make it connect to the pickup's harness.

Re: Reverse light switch
The reverse light switch is installed on top of the transmission. I was being impatient at the time and was unsure how it would work. Thanks for the replies.
