72 F350 dash removal?

Post by zakt »

Is the dash welded in or just it just un-bolt on my 72 F350?

Thanx,

i would take a guess that it is welded in at the windshiedl seam. and probably the kick panels too. but i have never seen a F350 bump interior yet. its probably the same as a f100 or f250 i would guess

It is identical to a f100 or 250. It is welded in for sure. The welds are spotted along the bottom of the windshield and on the kick panels. Hope this answers your question.

have to replace a kick panel and wanted to pull it out at the upper spot welds... looks like the dash is in the way but might be able to drill those out once the fender and door are removed from the outside without pulling the dash, thoughts?

if you can drill out the spot welds from the outside of the cab . i dont think you can. i think theres another panels in the way hiding the spot welds. but you would also have to drill out the spot welds on the side of the dash to kick panel. l'm sorry i dont have any pics of what i'm talking about. i thought i did.

I could be wrong but, I think the windshield has to be out to do this too because the spot welds are not able to be reached with it in. Not positive about that though.

Yes, the windshield has to be out, since the pinch lip for the windshield channel is part of the dash.

Trust me, you DON'T want to do this! :nono: You'd have a heck of a lot more work involved than you think. The dash is welded in along the windshield by about a gazillion spotwelds. I removed a dash once on a junk cab, just to see how involved it was....and let me tell you, I'll never do it again!

Here's a shot to show you what you'd be in store for:

Taking it out was bad enough...I don't even want to think of the work involved with getting it put back in. :o

wont take it out but looks like that seam for the kick panel goes right where the dash is... Im not sure if its rusted up to that but thought would be nice to repair at the seam :D

if i was doingthis work i would cut even with the bottom of the vent hole in the kick panel across to the door. and all the way to where it meets the floor.
