Park brake warning light
When I was at the wreckers a few weeks ago, I chanced across a '66 Merc hardtop that had a complete e-brake warning light and harness set-up so I grabbed it.
...the wiring led from a post on the back of the ignition switch to the indicator light itself and on to an insulated grounding contact mounted on the park brake assembly. When you push the pedal down, the rising cable hits the contact and grounds the system turning on the light. It turns out that there is a hole drilled in the truck brake pedal bracket that can be used for mounting the grounding contact and the chrome bezel from the car matches the light socket on our trucks exactly.
I reallize the existing light we have on the bottom left side of the dash is meant to signal an imbalance of pressure in the front and back brake circuits, but a guy could relocate it, maybe into the cluster with a small red led, if he wanted to add the e-brake warning. Handy for some of us occasionally absent minded folk...

Re: Park brake warning light
You could put that switch in parallel with the warning light and be just like mid 80s to 90s cars with the same warning light being for both. A couple of times I was so used to the parking brake releasing on shifting out of park that the light told me the brakes were wacky and kept me from hurting the truck.

Re: Park brake warning light
that must have been a addon at some point. i've never seen a truck with that in it. i've got a few of those lenses with the bezels left if you want one TOF.

Thanks Fordman, , but my light's not hooked up anyway so the missing lens is no problem.

Re: Park brake warning light
gonna have to see if i can rig something up like that.... would be ever so useful to a person like me that forgets that the parking brake is on in a manual truck and then wonders why it doesnt want to move
I don't really care about brands Chevy Ford Dodge ...as long as it doesn't sound like two old dudes farting in a coffee can.
