Ford Explorer Bucket Seats in a Bump?

Post by MotorDog »

Anybody done this? Thinking about putting the front Buckets out of a 99 Explorer into my '70 CS F-250. Any knowledge about something similar?

It looks like no one has done this. Well, I am going to try it shortly. I have the seats and just need some time to put them in. Might be two or three weeks before I'm able to get to it. Will let you know how it goes!

its all in the brackets. height is important. as well as placemnt on the floor. you should give yourself room from side to side and front to back (leg room) as well.

Plan on checking out placement, etc. real good before securing them. They are six-way Leather High Back Buckets so I will hook them up and make sure the adjustments end up in the right places. The passenger seat will slide forward almost to the dashboard, also. Not sure if that is good or bad but will see when I lay them out and wire them up.......

I'm considering a set for mine. I guess I'll just have to try it. Let me know what you find out.

I got a jump seat that connects two buckets. I'll cover it to match the buckets, being as it will match up rather nicely. So, my gal can still sit by me and we can enjoy the ride in more comfortable seats.

I know it needs pics, but I don't have any of my explorer seats. I'll post if I can get stuff to put on here.

Dont know about the explorer seats, but I do know that The first gen Taurus seats will fit with a bit of tweaking on the seat mounts.

Also bucket seats from an olds achieva will fit, and the bench seat from a 88-92 cheby pickup will fit just fine as well.

i have a 99 merc mountaineer for parts that has the leather buckets, for a trial fit, they sat tooo high and there isnt much too cut down on the brackets, but they're front 2 mounts work well with our floorpans.....but in my opinion they're too tall

Neverdone,

By too high, do you mean higher than the factory seat? Is it the bottom, or the seat backs? Thanks for the input though.

I think what he means is that it sat too high. The seat portion doesn't give enough for a good driving view :2cents:

lol, the seat tracks are actually low profile but the floor boards drop a few inches in the f100s, and as far as sitting to high....too much padding sit way to high..lol just my .02
