UGH! What rubber mat???

Post by papabug71 »

Now that I have the old out, I started on the rusty floor pans. I want to order the new mat & have it here waiting on me when im ready.

I see all different kinds to choose from, & I have even considered carpet instead of the rubber mat.

Have any of you guys got a new rubber mat for your trucks?? What company did you go with? Are you pleased with the qualty??

I see some that only covers the front, some that covers all. I dont want the kind that leaves the area between the seat & the door jam exposed.

Any info on it would be appreciated, & as usual pics would be awsome as well!!

I did a search & all I could find was stuff about the aftermarket mats not fitting worth a crap. Does any one have a aftermarket one that fits???

Im highly considering going with carpet................

Thanks! :fr:

Hello Matt,

In my quest to find a rubber mat for mine I started this forum thread:

http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... =6&t=35434

In the thread I have pictures of the Bob Drake mat, which I wouldn't recommend since it isn't really made for our trucks (but appears to be in their catalog).

Other folks spoke up about various other mats in the thread.

I just ordered the Dennis Carpenter rubber floor mat but haven't taken it out of its box and done a test fit yet. It sure smells nice though! It's part number C5TZ-8113010-A and was $85 I think.

I've heard that the NPD and LMC mats are fairly sorry reproductions of the original and needs lots of frustrating work to get a proper fit.

I'll be sure to let you know how the D.C. mat turns out.

i do know one thing. full coverage of the floor is perfered. well it is by me anyway. if you ever put something under theseat and take it back out you dont want it snagging on the edge of the mat or carpet you put in . as far as a mat or carpet. i don't know. it is easier to keep a mat clean. carpet can collect moisture and help promote rust. it would be like a mat with lots of little holes in it. but i do like my carpet in my truck. if you do go with carpet use a small mat for each side to catch dirt and rain/snow from shoes.

as far as carpet goes i use a rubber mat that has the built up side that can hold "supposably" a can of soda worth of liquid

i bought some ones for the 67 that have the blue oval with ford script on them. From the local advanced auto here... i really like them...and they will help protect the floor till i can put something different in there since the stock mat wont fit any more

Someone here posted pics where they put herculiner down on the interior rather than doing a mat or carpet. It looked good.
