Testing the horn ring?

Post by 69rangerman »

Is there anyway to test that the horn ring by touching a jumper wire from inside the horn ring to the column under the ring? Or will it only work with the ring installed.

I don't have the springy horn brush thing and while I'm waiting for it to arrive wondered if I could test the circuit from the ring to the horn through the relay?

Sorry if this is stupid - I'm no electrician.

what the horn ring does is just to ground the horn brush. if you ground the brush to the center of the steering colum nut the horn should sound without the ring. you can do it with a screwdriver. if you have the brush of course.

Thanks fordman,

I don't have the brush and thought there might be a way to trigger it without.

No big deal.

stick a piece of wire down inside of the horn brush hole. and then ground the other side of the wire.it should honk then.
