Boese dash inserts.
Has anyone used one of these? I sent an email to http://www.boeseengineering.com/ asking for information and I got the readers digest version of the installation instructions.
"Yes, you would need to cut the lowered center section out of the dash to allow room for the gauges."
Business must be good at Boese.
They still have a good looking product if you want to upgrade your gauges. I have a dask panel out of an F600 that is crying to get installed.

Hey Merlin,
I just installed one of these in my 68. One big issue I had was the tach and speedo guage diameter was meant to fit AutoMeter. I acutally bought a set of dolphin guages thinking the center holes were standard guage sizes. So I was l left to either send back the dophin guages and get the autometers or hog out the centers to fit the dolphin. I opted to hog out the center and use my dolphins. I had to open the hole up about 1/8" or 1/16 on each side. Yea big pain. Anyways, its all done finished.

Any chance you took some pics of the process? Or at least the final assembly before you installed it back in the dash?

I have not installed it yet. I have all guages plugged in and wired to the harness plug. When I get home this evening I will post up some pics of what had to get done to get it all to work. I can take pics of both front and back to see.

Here are a couple pics of the dash ready to go. The lower and upper portion of the dash where the tach and speedo are needed additional trimming.

Mike,
I can't see what holds the insert to the dash shell. Is it glues in?

The aluminum plate comes with threaded holes which they supply clips and allen bolts to attach to the housing. I did not use thier clips, but did use the holes to mount my own bolt setup. The picture does not show this detail and if you like I can take a picture of it tonight with that detail. I got a picture of it mounted in the truck to give an overall look.

Re: Boese dash inserts.
Mike,
Did you use the stock dash for the 68? I might put my F-600 dash on ebay to help pay for the insert.
BTW You are doing a real sweet job from what I have seen so far. Keep it up.

Merlin,
Thanks for the reply. I did use the stock dash that I had to cut up. I'll post up some pics of what I have been doing in the interior in the next couple days. I hope I helped you.
