Here's some pics of the harness. The black red stripe wire goes all the way inside of the plastic/rubber housing of the first pic.

Re: Another F600 wiring question
you will probably have to run a whole new wire to get around that problem. maybe even a few news ones. or find a alternator harness on ebay. the last one i saw on there went for like 5.00 plus shipping. i don't have any good ones to get rid of.

Yep, looks like there was probably some grounding issues at sometime... You will need to get the whole thing apart (or at least ohm it to the other wires for shorts) and make sure it didn’t melt into one of the other wires… There is also a chance that with all this that it might have fried your Voltage Regulator as well…

Re: Another F600 wiring question
Since it looks like I am going to be doing some wiring, is there a modern replacement for my fuseable link? Like one with a fuse that can be replaced without having to rewire anything.

Re: Another F600 wiring question
i have two thoughts on that question. 1 is that the fuseable links are made to be cut out of the system when they go bad. 2 since the link didnt exactly go bad and the wire burned up you could just get a correct sized piece of wire and put your own fuse holder that would hold the correct current inline with that new wire. wire size and where to get what correct parts i don't know. not in this town you won't find them.
Re: Another F600 wiring question
I think I finally got everything hooked up right. With the engine off, I'm getting 12V on the battery and 12V at the + on the alternator. When I crank the engine I'm getting 14V on the battery. The issue that I am having now is that my indicator light is not coming on at all. Once I got my wiring straightened out, I watched the light go dim and then it went out. I figured that it just burned up so I went and bought another one. I replaced the light and when I turn the key on, nothing.

Re: Another F600 wiring question
This might be normal I'm not sure... (as I recently found that the wire diagram and wiring at the Voltage Regulator don't quite jive. )theogre5150 wrote:I think I finally got everything hooked up right. Anyway, the way to test the light wiring is to check the Voltage on the wires, if both connectors have voltage on them, then the light will not come on. This is how this circuit works(supposed too anyway): When the Alternator is not charging then there is (supposed to be a switch) in the Voltage Regulator that switches that 904 wire to ground and as the other wire on the light is getting power the light will come on. But when the Alternator is charging then this 904 wire actually has 12V on it so the light will have 12V on both sides, so the light will not light up... Beings your Alternator is charging then, I believe your Purple and Green/red striped wire will have power and are working but maybe the Black/Green Striped wire is not getting power now…
You can also check any light bulb with an Ohm meter… Just hook to both wires (or on light bulb, the center node and outside of socket/thread area) and if it has some resistance it is good, but if it is open then it is no good.
Sure wish I was there to help (play) with this with you!!!
