6volt positive ground jumping
My old 8N still has the generator and 6volt positive ground system. How do you go about jumping it off with a standard 12 volt battery? I think I know how but I don't want to blow something up.

Re: 6volt positive ground jumping
Hey Brokenarrow,
The '55 Dodge Coronet I used to have had a 6v positive ground...
This is the twin to mine, except mine had chromies with baby moons and black walls.

Sometimes, especially when it was warm the 6v bat had a hard time crankin' over the red ram hemi that was in it.
I kept a regular 12v battery in the trunk to jump it on occasion (plus it was nearly impossible to find a 6v pos ground stereo system).
It usually required two of us... 'cause you don't wanna leave it hooked up after it starts.
We'd just hook up the positive ground first, then just touch the neg post with the jumper cable until it fired up.
We never actually clamped the jumper cable to the neg post in case somethin' started to smoke.
I have heard that you can drive a lag bolt in the center of a 12v battery and use it and the regular post to convert a 12v bat to a 6v bat, but I don't know if that is true or not...
I never tried it to find out.
