c8tb-14444v-dsx - The harness part # that I will be using
I was checking out the fuse box and noticed that it didn't have the brown wire that fuses with the black w/green stripe. So I took it off of another harness I have. Because I'm hooking up an A/C unit. I noticed later that the black w/green stripe wire came out in the same area where the brown wire ended following the other harness. I also noticed the blk/grn wire had a 40 amp breaker. Well I had already installed the brown wire, now I have a fuseable hot wire.
Another thing, the harness that I will be using had the ignition connector wires cut. So I cut them off of the other harness, soldered them, but on one of the wires I soldered it had printed do not cut or splice. Do you think I will have problems with this wire. It's a pinkish colored wire and I have no idea what it goes to.. any help would be great...

Re: Rigging a harness
Here is the wire diagram for the heater with A/C and it gets its power directly from the Black/Green stripped wire with a circuit breaker inline, however it shows it as a 14amp breaker. http://www.fordification.com/images/sch ... g_69ac.jpg
The Pink wire you spliced together at the ignition switch is the Resistor wire for the ignition coil on the engine, it might be ok if it was pretty close to the switch where you had to do the splice and the overall length is still close to the same as it was before… If you have any concerns you can replace the whole wire with a new one from the parts store, as an example http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDeta ... 05&PTSet=A
Hope this helps.

Re: Rigging a harness
Thank you for the info, I was kind of stumped there for a minute do you think that I should change the 40 breaker to a 14 or will that be ok?
And the pink resistor wire. I did solder about 3in. from the connector, so I think it will be fine.
I don't know if you have heard of putting an HEI distrbutor on the old FE motor? I have the DUI distrbutor- http://www.performancedistributors.com/ do you think I will use the pink resistor wire for it?

Re: Rigging a harness
Yeah, I would replace the circuit breaker, a 40amp would need about a 8 or 10 gauge wire otherwise the wire is your fuse Double check that this circuit breaker is just in the line for the heater - A/C and nothing else, like it is shown in that diagram, if it is supplying power to the fuse box and such then it could be right.
And for your new distributor, you will not want to use that pink resistive wire. From the info on the distributor

This resistive wire is your "ballast resistor"No ballast resistor is used. Stock Ford systems, and many aftermarket systems require a ballast resistor which reduces the voltage in the ignition system. The D.U.I. allows FULL voltage into the ignition system, providing a better spark and more power.

Re: Rigging a harness
I will check on the wire to see if it's the only feed. And for sure change the braker if I need to, because I would hate to have a melt down.
