Re: Poll: which dash do you prefer: padded or bare/metal?
I don't think saftey should really be your concern here. all dashes seem unsafe to me in a crash. Go with what you like. Personally I like the look of the pad, it gives the dash some charcater and contrast. Plus, I think it takes a lot of work to make the all metal look good. If you don't you have a bunch of holes in the dash and it looks tacky imo if you want to sport an all metal dash.
The few all metal ones I have seen though that where all dressed up free of holes did look good.

I would have to agree with fireguy, padded to me just looks better. Metal is more work, plus it has more of a 50's look. ![No No :nono:](./images/smilies/icon_nono.gif)

Like the other guys have said...
Depending on the look yer goin' for...
I have seen some really nice clean metal ones, but it took a lot of work to get them to look that way...
All of the holes would need to be filled... and I'm lazy, but they do look really sweet when they are done right...
Personally my vote is still for the pad... I just think it looks nicer is all.

I vote for the pad, gives truck more character & the painted dashes would scuff if you like to
throw things on top of the dash. My![2 cents :2cents:](./images/smilies/icon_2cents.gif)

Pad because it reduces the suns bright glare. Same reason everything made after '67 lost the shiney stuff inside.

I like the bare. Just hate to weld up the holes in case I wanted padding again. Oh well, I don't know what I'll end up doing, but bare looks best to me!
