67 F-100 brake lights not working
Ive gotten all the lights to work now except the brake lights and hazards. I checked the red and black wire in the turn signal switch and it has power when I press the brake pedal so Im assuming the brake light switch is good. The front and back turn signals work properly as do the parking lights. The toggle switch for the hazards is toast but there is power at the plug. The only thing I can think of is I might have the turn signal switch wired wrong. I connected the red and black wire from the signal switch to the solid green wire from the harness. I think all the wires are connected right because everything else works but I dont know. This is the last issue that I have to fix to get it back on the road

Re: 67 F-100 brake lights not working
The solid green wire on the truck harness is for your Right Rear brake / turn light... so I think you have it and the brake wire switched. The Red/Black should go to the Red/Black... but check to see which wire you have that makes the Right Rear work now and swap it with it and see what happens. Here is the wire diagram for the 67 with the color codes on it. http://www.fordification.com/images/sch ... ghts02.jpg

Re: 67 F-100 brake lights not working
That makes sense but there isnt a red and black wire in the harness and there also isnt a yellow wire in the harness, but the switch has a yellow/black stripe wire. The only wires that match are the blue/yellow stripe, solid light blue, white/blue stripe, and green/white stripe

Sorry forgot you had the wire color issue in your other thread on the turn signals and still had the brake light problem there...
Was the turn signal switch new or used? It could be defective... I'll see if I can pull apart the one in my parts truck tomorrow to show you where to check it for voltage and how it works.

Re: 67 F-100 brake lights not working
The switch was used, I got it out of a 68 or 69, I forget. Its a FOMOCO switch, not aftermarket. I tried to match the two but the new switch was different looking than the old one and the location of the wires on the switch itself were totally different. The only thing I did was check for power on the red/black stripe wire were it goes into the switch.

Re: 67 F-100 brake lights not working
I haven't read the other thread, so I hope I am not writing something that you have already discussed, but have you confirmed that your grounds are good? When I got my truck the harness was all hacked up where someone had tried to fix the brake lights and turn signals, and the only reason they didn't work was that the grounds were corroded and needed to be cleaned.
I have taken to cleaning mine with the dremel, then painting them with anti-sieze when I put them together. I haven't been doing it long enough to know for sure that it works long term, but that stuff sure seems to stick to everything, and it keeps rust off pretty well.

Re: 67 F-100 brake lights not working
Hey Oddball,
I got to my 69 shorty and pulled the TSS apart and took some pictures. I also found that my truck has a solid “Green” wire for the brake light power on the TSS harness which is connected to the “Red/black striped” wire of the truck harness.
If you pull the steering wheel off and look at the picture below (Top side of TSS) you will see where the brake and turn signal power are going, check the brake light one for power when you hit the brakes. If you have power there then make sure it is making good connection with the spring wire underneath (rivet is making good connection)
If you look at the other picture I have you can see how these spring wires make contacts with the lights. When the TSS is in the middle then the spring wire for the brakes is making contact with both the Rear lights and the Turn signal power spring wire is setting in between the front and rear contact bumps (note: the bumps are NOT connected to each other).
When you turn one way the brake light contact disconnects from the side your are turning on and the Turn signal power makes contact on the bumps for the rear on one side and the front on the other side, It does however also keep connection of the brake light on the other side still.
If you look at the last picture you will see where on mine there is a piece of plastic that supports the spring wire up that is broken off on mine on one side. This is keeping my brake light from working on that side, as the spring wire is not being held up high enough to make contact with the bump on the switch. Yours might have this problem on both sides.
Pretty sure with all your front and rear turn signals working correctly that you have everything wired correctly and the TSS itself is broken somewhere but double check that green wire for power at the turn signal cam, it could have a brake in the wire somewhere.
Hope this helps you troubleshot yours more and if you have more questions or need better details/explanation on any of this let me know.

Re: 67 F-100 brake lights not working
Thanks for the help guys. I checked the red/black stripe wire for power again and it only had power every 5th or 6th time I pressed the brake pedal. Then I broke the wire. I tried soldering it back together but I shake too much. So Im going to get one of the 28 dollar ones from Dick Carpenter and go from there.
