It wont hurt the radio Craig, but you wont get as much volume out of it either. Going the other way, 4 ohm speaker on an 8 ohm radio is bad juju. It can kill the radio.

Re: 67 4 ohm vs 68 8 ohm speaker
i just wanted to make sure. i have the 8 ohm speaker and the 67 radio came stock with a 4 ohm. i didn't want o blow the radio. i figured it would be ok. but i asked first. because i wasnt sure about 4 ohm speakers. i guess i've hooked up 8 ohm speakers to louder car steros so it should have been a no brainer to just go ahead and use it.

If the volume isnt loud enough for your taste you can put 2 8ohm speakers in parallel and itll come out as a 4 ohm. Bill

is that because it woul dpush the 4 ohms to the both speakers or what? i know what parallel and series is.

It's kind of a weird thing in circuits when you first look at them but the more in parallel you have the less resistance it looks to the load. It all works out in ohm's law in the end... but here is a page that shows how to calculate the resistance in a parallel circuit, I use the RECIPROCAL METHOD when I do it... http://www.tpub.com/neets/book1/chapter3/1-26.htm or http://www.play-hookey.com/dc_theory/pa ... stors.html
But having two 8 ohm speakers in parallel will look like one 4 ohm speaker to the radio.

Did you forget to add the link?Thunderfoot wrote:It's kind of a weird thing in circuits when you first look at them but the more in parallel you have the less resistance it looks to the load.
