Need Some Advice, Electrical Issues...
Hello all, I just bought my 67 F100 a couple days and I'm lovin it so far. But it's got a few issues I need to take care of, I read through some threads and found some ansewers but some are still unansewered.
1. My turn signals blink reeeeeealy slow, sometimes it'll get stuck on. All the blinkers work except the passenger side rear, the brake light/driving light works but no blinker. The emergency flashers don't work at all either.
2. My dash doesn't light up when the headlights/parking lights are turned on, I checked the fuse and it seems fine.
3. The horn doesn't work. I went to the local truck wrecking yard and got a "new" horn that was tested and works but when I hit the horn button no "honk"! I bet its the horn relay, can I get one from Pepboys/Kragens/etc or does it have to be from a place like LMC Truck?
Thanks in advance!

If you have not already tried some simple things...try these first:Jay's67F100 wrote:Hello all, I just bought my 67 F100 a couple days and I'm lovin it so far. But it's got a few issues I need to take care of, I read through some threads and found some ansewers but some are still unansewered.

1. Slow signals, this could be the flasher, it's up under the dash behind driver's side the cluster. Can usually reach under and get at it. Check the bulb on the pass side rear. I would check the flasher for the emergency lights (it's a different one from the one that runs the signals) and also test the emergency switch.
2. Did you try rotating the light switch? May just be turned down, it's a reostat thing to go from off to bright dash lights.
3. Could be the contact in the steering column. Do a search in the forum and you should find some stuff to help you out with this.
Good luck.

I figured it was the flasher, I read some threads where some folks weren't happy with the flasher they bought from a certain vendor.
Any suggestions on a good place to get a flasher?
The bulb on the rear is good, the brake light & driving/parking lights work just no blinker. I switched bulbs right to left(left side works) and still same issue.
I did rotate the light switch, it'll turn the dome light on but no dash lights.
I checked the contact under the horn cap, seems like it's making good contact. I checked power to the relay with a test light and it's got power. And I'm still getting power to the horn itself, so maybe the relay is okay?

You can get flashers at any local auto parts store. I usually buy the heavy duty ones. On dash lights, next check the bulbs, may be burnt out.
Did you check the emergency flasher switch? I'm thnking the EF switch could have something to do with your turn signals not working, or it could be your TS switch. Others with more expertise will have to give you some advice on trouble-shooting this. Does the bulb light up, but just not blink, or no light at all when you flip the TS lever?
As far as the horn, if you have power to and from the relay, I gotta believe, bad horn or bad ground.

Re: Need Some Advice, Electrical Issues...
The no blinker on the passenger side rear, but brake light works is a problem with the Turn Signal Switch... you can probably/maybe fix it with a new Turn Signal Cam...
On the dash lights check the fuse with a Test Light, if you don't have power there (on both sides of the fuse) with the lights on then the light switch is probably bad. If you do have power there then check the bulbs in the cluster.

Re: Need Some Advice, Electrical Issues...
Blinkers are tricky liked to have never figured mine but finally did. The horn issue I had the same problem after totally rewiring the horn circuit still did not work so it is more than likely the relay I went to the parts store and bought one still same problem then went to junk yard took one out of a old truck and bingo horn works fine now so I carried the one back to the parts store and got my money back.

While I was putting in my new dash pad, I got real up close and personal with the guts of the dash.Lar4t9r wrote:You can get flashers at any local auto parts store. I usually buy the heavy duty ones. On dash lights, next check the bulbs, may be burnt out.

My EF switch is busted, the backside of it is broken off completely. I'll start off with replacing that, then if that don't work looks like a new TS switch will be next.

Let us know how you make out. Some threads are like reading a novel and getting to the last page...and find someone ripped it out!

You got it! After looking at some catalogs, the only place I saw so far (NPD) that had a replacement EF Switch wanted over $100 for one!!!Lar4t9r wrote:Let us know how you make out. Some threads are like reading a novel and getting to the last page...and find someone ripped it out!
Can anyone recommend where to get a good EF Switch, that won't ding my wallet so bad?

Here is one on ebay now that mounts in the dash. My '69 has a different kind that mounts inside the glovebox.

Re: Need Some Advice, Electrical Issues...
Thanks for the link! looks like the auction already ended, bummer. I've got my dad's buddy, ford mechanic, trying to hunt one down in a pick-n-pull place he goes to regularly. I ordered some stuff from LMC today like a new back up light switch, headlight switch, and a horn relay. Hopefully those will remedy the issues. I'll try to get the TS Flasher from a local parts place, I saw some at Pepboys the other day. The one in my truck now looked square in shape, compared to the ones in the catalogs that look round? Maybe it's been replaced before?Lar4t9r wrote:Here is one on ebay now that mounts in the dash. My '69 has a different kind that mounts inside the glovebox.
