Getting the 69 back to it's glory.

Post by FreakysFords »

I've got a 69 Ranger package SWB with a 390 (HO that DID have the cast "headers" from a car that should have NEVER been scrapped).

I'm ripping the C6, perfect seat, shoulder belts and a few other goodies from a 76 parts truck (yes, I-beam / brakes too). I may even yank the a/c stuff, but I'll likely just build me an under seat unit from late components.

Anyway, the 69's wiring is useless. There's not a spot that's not hacked on (there's even a toggle sw taped to the column for ign on / off and the IGN sw is just for the starter) and I'm not going to save it.

While prepping the 76 for donor surgery, I decided to yank the dash / engine harness (taking the elec dist anyway). I'm taking it to work with me 2maro to make some small altercations on it for the 69. No time like now, I'm going to G3 alt it anyway. After I get it in and back running, I'll probably go ahead and yank the rest of the wiring (lights) so it'll be plug and play.

Other than the givens (movement of ign and such, as well as extra circuits) anyone know of anything I might just forget till I get it in the truck and then have to alter it in place? lol was worth asking. :D

also, though it's not pertaining to the electrical sys. what's my best repro hood value out there (not another massage the corners deal if possible)?

i could ship you a 69 harness for less than messing with the 76 harness and all of the possible loose conncetion problem you may have later.

lol it's almost done, but how much? Would be nice to not have to rig in the hazard sw, lengthen the ign sw (just hanging for now, no cutting done), and maybe having my engine sensor connectors without having to pin them out then add the connectors (cut from both trucks, so the 76 was no help there).

2day I got all front lights and rear running lamps done, got the cab light on with door and light sw, got the cargo lamp right, wipers, and got some pin out work done on the ICs.

Assuming I don't end up buying fordman's harness (which I may well do if I can), what's the orange wire going up along side the black for the cab light? It had been cut from the original harness and the 76 just had the one wire going up.

Thanks

I'm not 100% positive but I think it might be the fuel gauge sender wire from the tank. :2cents:
