Re: Steering Wheel Pics
It comes with a black hub cover goes over adapter that the wheel bolts to and a rubber boot that hides any gaps, you can kinda see both looking thru bottom left of picture of wheel, but yes it does match up.
I can't remember if hub came with wheel or install kit.

Hey Kap this is how I resovled the gap problem between the black hub cover(the off colored silver piece) and the stock steering connector(where the blinker arm goes in)Is the bottom end of a jiff or peter pan plastic container. I just cut it off to lenght needed and cut the flat bottom to the corrct size so it would stay in place and painted it silver from the inside. Just plain ole redneck logic.kaptnkaos wrote:Hey Peanutman,
I like yer wheel too... does the hub match up with the column collar ?
The ones I have seen like that that, the hub is larger than the column.

Re: Steering Wheel Pics
hey 4speed and kap, For whatever reason i didn't have that problem. My column is a 72 3 on tree ps, may be the difference. I do remember installing and pulling it off several times until i got it right. A real pia for such a small project.wt4speed#2 wrote:This is what the PO had installed when I bought the truck

Re: Steering Wheel Pics
Hey tony...
Very creative way of dealin' with that... that's somethin' I would do for sure...
I like the look of the "Banjo" type wheel... I prolly won't change mine since I just got it, but if I ever get tired of it, I'll go with one of those...

Re: Steering Wheel Pics
I've got the same wheel on mine. It's been modified it to use a standard Ford horn button. I took this wheel off of a junked '67 f100 in 1981. It's been on 4 different trucks since then.papabug71 wrote:Im currently running a NOS wheel I originally got for my Duster. Its (was) made by a company called Superior preformanc products which was bought out by Grant in the 80's. Its called "The 500". Looks just like the Grant wheels of today, but the SPP wheels had 4 holes in the spokes, the one Grant makes today only have 3 holes. It will do untill I get my new Ford wheel from DC![]()
I dont know why the foam looks white in this picture, must be the flash. Its nice & black in real life tho.
14" no power steering = fun to turn at a stand still, thats for sure!!

Re: Steering Wheel Pics
I used the horn-button mounting plate from a stock steering wheel. You have to drill out 3 spot welds. Then I drilled 3 more holes in the plate to properly index the button and bolted it on the wheel with the 3 existing bolts. Piece of cakepapabug71 wrote:Thats pretty slick! Re: Steering Wheel Pics
Very Clever.
Good Job!
![Image](http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp78/mike68merc_photos/access_steering_small_r11_c10.gif)
That'd look good on MY old steering wheel!
I ordered the 4 spoke Halibrand wheel pictured above last month, but sent it back for the 3 spoke (wide hub) on the left (below)
![Image](http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp78/mike68merc_photos/access_steering_small_r04_c10.gif)
I'm using a '79 Tilt column with the larger diameter Hub & thought it'd look better without a reducer.
I figured these wide hub versions would more "organic".
But now I'm imagining the old small hub, 4 spoke Halibrand (that I just exchanged) with the original Mercury center cap!!.....
(looks just like your FORD, but has the gear & lightning bolt symbol instead).
Way to go MacGyver!

Re: Steering Wheel Pics
Thanks! this is a universal one from ididit. The one made for bumps sits more to the left, like a stock column does which is something I don't like so I got the universal one and moded the mounts to center it up.texrodder wrote:Nice column Marz.Is it a univeral or idits specific fit for bumps?
