volvo faceplate install-part two
Here is the rest of the pictures from my stereo and speaker install. The whole system is Sony Xplod. Sounds pretty good too. I just have to cover the headliner.

How do the headliner speakers sound? Any buzzing or rattling of the board? That looks great.

Re: volvo faceplate install-part two
I have already cranked it with some Metallica and I'm impressed with the sound. As far as rattles or distortion, I haven't really noticed any. Once I cover the headliner with material, I do plan on putting some thin foam back up there to deaden the hollow sound.

Re: volvo faceplate install-part two
I put some 6 1/2 in my headliner about 2 months ago. I get a little rattling but if you crank it up you don't notice it. I've got to get some insulation in there though. Putting the speakers in the headliner was the best thing I've done even though it was hard to cut up the headliner.

Re: volvo faceplate install-part two
Hey drytoast. I know the feeling about cutting the headliner. I went and got another one out of a 72 to try it. I figure that way if I didn't like it, I still have my original but so far I'm liking it. I noticed without the foam I had up there, it has a hollow sound when you close the doors.

Re: volvo faceplate install-part two
You guys might have solved my no rear speaker problem. I was afraid it wouldn't sound right up there. I will have to try it some time.

That's cool. You need a tach, but a louder set of pipes would be better! Thanks for the pics and info guys.

Pipes are in the works, I work with farmers and been looking for some stainless steel milking pipeline, so far no luck but I'm keeping my eyes open.

Re: volvo faceplate install-part two
Out of curiousity...does the front of the radio stick out further than the dash lip above it? I would be somewhat interested in installing a radio with a flip out dvd screen on mine when its all said and done, just need to make sure that the screen would clear the dash. Thanks!

Re: volvo faceplate install-part two
Hey michael69. The 6x9s are in my door panels. They sit where the access hole is to the inside of the door. You can only have a 6x9 that is 3 inches deep though or the window elevator hits it.
Hey marvin2. The radio does not clear the dashpad so I'm afraid a flip screen will still hit the pad. Just so you guys know, this is in a 70 F250.
