by that last postit sounds like the resistor wire went bad.

Glad you got it sorted out, I just reread your original post, and somehow I missed the painless harness part. Not that it would have made much difference I did not know they had fuse for the coil. I don't think originally Ford use a fuse for that circuit, just the fuse link at the solenoid.
