I used a pc of insulated home wrap (goes under siding) between the magnet and the roof. I just cut it to slide into the bracing so I didn't have to glue it.

It functions as a sound insulator and it crushes so the when I installed the headliner with the speakers I just pushed up on the speakers to get them as high into the roof cavity as I could before installing the trim.

i bought the headliner from lmc that has the cd player and speakers built in it looks great i would recommend so you don't have to cut up you dash.
