wierd painless type of harness
i tseems that my 67 must have had a n early version of some sort of painlees type of wiring harness on it. almost none of the colors match up to the wiring diagrams. so i have been removing it from the truck as i do the tear down. i got the underbed and tail lights harness off today with the bed. and i put the bed on a frame that had no bed. and that is a frame that i made into a trailer. i went to hook up the wiring and the three wires on each side for the tail lights are all the same color on each side. white green and yellow. one would be reverse lights. the other two would be brake/tail and turn. the right side is suppose to be green for the turn and the left is suppsoe to be yellow for turn. i havent looked yet. but since bothe sides have the same colors. would i just swap the colors on each side to make that work right? so far i havent hooked up anything because it is all messed up. even the underbed wiring has the wrong colors. it has two whites a yellow and a green. its all messed up. does it make since to swap the wire colors on each side to make the turns work properly? or is that wrong. i guess it depends on what the colors are going to on the back of the socket. if they are even the right socket for the truck. does anyone one see why the after market harnesses are junk. none of the colors match up. so tracing wires is way to hard to do with out a diagram or tearign the whole harness apart.

Re: wierd painless type of harness
Doesn't sound like any kind of Painless harness i'm familiar with. Sounds more like someone got a good deal on trailer wire & went to town. White is ground, green is right turn, yellow, left turn, brown wire for tail ilghts. That is common trailer codeing. If you need a factory diagram, shoot me a pm...
As a metter of fact, i AM trying to keep up with the Jones'

Sounds like someone used trailer wire... Only way to figure it out is to pull the tail lights and see what it hooked to what.

Re: wierd painless type of harness
actually it is some kind of aftermarket harness because the whole truck was miscolored. and some of the plugs were some light plastic type of connectors they weren't original. but i did get it figured out. the green on the tail lights was for reverse. when it was suppose to be black and red. i did swap the yellow and white on one side and that made it all work properly when i changed out the brake light bulb. i did think of something stupid. why not run all my trucks with a extra wire for the revese lights to hook up on the trailer. that might be handy some night you never know. well maybe another day.
