Flickering lights?

I just completed my 3G alternator conversion and now my lights,all of them. When I check the voltage with the lights on,it will vary from 14.5 down to 13.3 constantly. Does this sound like my voltage regulator? Thanks

It will be the voltage regulator, but depends on how did you wire it up?

Where did you put the yellow wire?
And is the belt possibly slipping?

The yellow wire went to the charge post. and no the belt is not slipping.

I would take it off and have it tested, but then again I would probably just head back to the junkyard and get another one.

When I got mine (1993 Taurus) I immediately took it to an alternator shop and had it tested. Figured I would do that first rather than wire everything up and find something was wrong.

Is it you that had the old ammeter wires bundled with the main power lead?

Yep that be me. Should I delete them totally?(old ammeter wires...red and yellow)??

I left mine unconnected and I have a steady 14.6 volts.

Not sure what harm either way with those wires connected, but with the current set-up there is no way the gauge will work, so that's why I figured to leave them unconnected.

Other than that, the alternator is self-contained so if it's showing some weird readings and the battery os ok, I would likely say the alternator is at fault.
