keep blowing gauge cluster fuses

Post by tybob81 »

On the 67 we keep blowing the fuse for the gauge cluster. I think it has to do with the amp gauge or the relay thing beside it. I have swaped a 60 amp alt in place of the 30 amp. I also replaced the charge gauge with anothe one I had. Still pops the fuse. All the body and engine grounds a new along with the painless harness.

Are you talking about the fuse for the "instrument lights"? There isn't a fuse for the instrument panel gauges... at least not in the stock wiring...

The painless harness has a fuse just for gauges and electric choke. Oh well it was a faulty voltage reducer. I tried the original one and an extra one I had and they were both bad. Bought a new one and it fixed popping the fuse.
