67 Dash Wiring Harness question

Post by Bobaloo2 »

On the 1967 F100 dash wiring harness, we see a 4 wire connector under the speedo, with two jumpers inserted. What is that plug and wiring for?

four wire plug? do you have a reference or a pic of that. i have never seen a four wire plug on my 67 cluster or under it. unless you mean down lower than the cluster. that would be the nss bypass for a manual transmission. the colros are black with red arent they?

I am referring to the plug shown on the diagram Keith shows on the 1967 instrument panel wiring. It contains wires: AC, AB, N & M, and is located right under the speedometer area. It looks like two jumpers inserted in it.

http://www.fordification.com/images/sch ... tpanel.jpg yes i think that what that is. its the neutral safety switch wiring. the jumpers are there if you have a manual transmission. if not the plug will plug into the bottom of your steering column. those wires also contain the reverse light switsh wires. for a manual truck those wires are jumper over and will lead to teither the column or the transmission depending on whihc transmssion you have. for an automatic truck those wires also go to the nss so the column shifter can activate the light via the nss at the bottom of the column.

Good information, thanks, maybe I can rig a back up light using that. I have a 3 speed that was moved to the floor before I owned the truck.

the 3spd switch is located on the bottom of the column on the inside of the enigne compartment. if the switch is still there maybe you could move it to the floor shifter bracket some how to get the arm to engauge the switch. if you tried to use just that plug you would still need the switch to be activated by something like the nss switch for an automatic. since your column doesnt have column shift anymore then the nss switch wouldn't help with activation.
