But about the gaskets was anything found out? I need one so I can put the chrome trim back in. I was stationed away from my truck when the windshield got put back in and someone told my dad that you can not put the trim back in with a new windshield.

you can put the trim back in the new gaskets. you are suppose to do it before the gasket is installed. it is very hard to put the trim back in after the windshield is installed. . i have never done it but my dad did and he said it was a b. i have seen where others here have said that they broke there windshield tring to put the chrome in after the glass had been installed in the truck. the easiest route would be to get a new gasket and start over. i would cut the exsisting gasket out instead of trying to save it . the choice is yours.

I had the windshield on my '69 installed by a friend, who did it as his profession. When he got there to do it, the only rubber he had was from a '73-'79. It has the chrome piece in it. I think he installed the chrome before putting in the glass. He did tell me that it was the most difficult install he had ever done!

This looks like an old topic but:

This weekend the wife and I tried to put the windshield in my 68. My old one was cracked so I went to the yard and got a great window from a 75 f100. Well we cracked it trying to install it to. WEll last night I pulled it out and I dont think they are the same. The bottom of the dent side window curves out more than the old factory bump side glass did. The tops are the same though. I am not sure the window I got from the dent side was factory though. It was tinted at the top. None of the 70's trucks I haver ever owned were tinted at the top. But I do know they will not stack flat togeather.

im unsure what to tell you about the tinting. but when i looked it up in a mitchel manual it said that front glass from a 73-79 would fit. i will copy the page sometime att he library and post it on here.

Before I go buy it, a 1968 F600 dumptruck windshield will fit my 67 F100, correct? They sure look the same, but I could not take any measurements.

yes they are the same because the doors from the F600 will interchange as well as they have the same dashboard in them. make sure that the truck looks just like a bumpside though. if the F600 looks like a slick then it may not fit.

For whats its worth, since we're on windsheilds, I removed mine and saved the gasket just in case. It is a real pain if you plan on saving the rubber at all. I ended up peeling a section back on the inside and for lack of anything better I slid a whole raft of drawer dividers in under until I was able to slowly peel the rubber away from the outside. Once you get a side and some of the top, it starts to pop out on its own. This is the only way to do this and keep it a one man operation that I found.

the only one i ever tried to remove like that. was almost all the way out and then it cracked it when i was pulling the rubber one more time. so from now on i just cut the rubber off and trash it. its never any good on any of the trucks i have parted out.

Well coming from an expirienced glass man and windshield installer, more than likely won't interchange. They are from different series of windshields, luckily me it only costs me 90bucks to install one muwhahahaha.
