Neutral safty switch

Does any one know if you can eliminate the neutral safty switch?? My post that moves the switch on the bottom of the colum broke and I need to fix it or remove the switch Any thoughts??

That switch also controls your backup lights. That post is not too hard to find, probably someone here has one they would sell you. It just snaps into some holes in the shift tube of the column. Drop the column down to where you can see, pop the old one out, pop the new one in. You can bypass the switch so you can start your truck while waiting for the post, just use some wire and wire it into the position it would normally be in when the truck is in park.
Be advised, though, if you do that your truck will start in gear or out of gear, and you will have no backup lights.
I would not advise bypassing the switch as a permanent measure.

So the post that comes out of the shift tube just snaps in the bottom of the tube, I thought it broke off. That would be great if it snaps back in !!

yes it is just a piece that snaps in.
