V W Buckets in a bump
I just found an ad in the local shopper paper for a guy selling V W and Karmann Ghia front seats for $10 each or $15 a pair! I figure the 70's high back seats might look okay. Has anyone put this combination together?

For what it's worth, I had high backs in my '66 bug and the bottoms were so convex that you'd really slide around in the corners. You'd basically slide of the seat until the lap belt caught you. Of course, these seats are old and not every pair are going to be the same (spring tension, amount of foam left, etc), but it's something to keep in mind when you go try them out. Personally if they don't sink down to a flat or concave shape when you sit in them, I'd pass them up.
Edit: Also from what I remember they are pretty narrow.

Re: V W Buckets in a bump
VW seats have a totally different mounting bracket. You'll need the base from your existing buckets and you'll have to rig up some way to connect the seat to your bracket. VWs have a flat floor and the adjustment rail is mounted to the floor as opposed to most American vehicles that have the bracket bolted to the floor and the adjuster is up off the floor with space under the seat. So you will either need to weld the VW bracket to your truck floor or adapt your bracket to the VW seat.
I'm not saying it isn't possible, just that it won't be a quick and easy direct fit bolt in. And the price you pay to get those seats to fit may buy you a seat that will be an easier install and a better fit.
