Firewall cover clips

Post by flyboy2610 »

I want to get started installing my new firewall cover. It is one that I got from LMC. I assume I also need the "Insulation Retainer" No. 40-1100. Does anyone know how many of these are needed? It seems like $3.95 each is a bit pricey.

I just KNOW that once I get started, this is going to snowball. It always does.

Edit: I also found these:

i think it is 4 that you need but it might only be 3 that hold it on. i was able to finally get all of them out of the last one that i pulled. it is in pretty good conditon considering what some others i have seen. i dont think those plastic ones will be large enough to hold up the cover or be strudy enough either. but they might work i dont know.

It helps keep out engine heat and gives the interior a more finished and better look, because it hides the mounting brackets for steering column, gas pedel, and so forth.

I can see where, living in Texas driving a bump with no A/C, it would be nice to keep as much heat out of the cab as possible.
