new battery

Post by hotrod ford »

installed a new battery today and it was blowing fuses in my 71. put it in my 67 and it did the same thing. changed out the fuses in the 71 and it started up, but why did it blow the fuses?

well, i put the old battery in it and it does the same thing. you turn the key and it gives a metallic click then nothing. this time i pulled the fuse and reset it and looked at my gauges and they are back on. turn the key and click! the battery was getting charged over night and was the one that came with the truck when i bought it.

Ok, here is what I found. This time when it made that click I went and looked at the battery terminals. When I moved/jiggled the positive wire on the battery the truck would get power. I can't find a broken or loose wire anywhere. Think I will replace the terminal wires then see where it goes from there.
