What has anyone else done to "attach" new vent window weatherstripping? Apparently I need to use adhesive to attach it to the metal?? Is regular weatherstripping adhesive adequate? It seems like I need to really have the new weatherstripping stretched out to fit tight on the frame.
I've tried doing one already. I used the regular weatherstrip adhesive. Then I used some blocks of wood and clamps to hold it - one section at at time - until it dried. That still didn't seem to get it attached tight enough. I can't get the vent window closed and latched.
Tips, tricks, experiences and cheats are all appreciated here.

Use some split rivets.
Like these: http://www.rivetsinstock.com/rivet25.ht ... agod0m9BAg
Put them in so that the split part is on the rubber side, and the head of the rivet is on the metal frame.
It helps if you can have a helper push the rivet tight against the frame while you bend the legs of the rivet over. Use a small punch and make sure you get the legs bent over as close to the rivet split as you can.

Re: Vent window weatherstripping
I drilled through the new vent rubber and the divider bar and put in 3 very small evenly spaced nuts & bolts. The tapered head bolt was toward the vent window the thin nut was toward the window channel. Held it all down fine. I purchased the correct hollow rivits and setting tool for my 1959 Lincoln but the nuts & bolts worked just fine and I could adjust it to ensure the vent glass closed properly.
The nut/bolt was shallow enough that it did not interfer with the new window channel.

Re: Vent window weatherstripping
Thanks for the helpful advice and links.
I'm now learning rivets. (something new every day, it seems)
Does anyone have a "size" for the rivets they used?
The link shows multiple sizes.
I assume 'small'. But if anyone knows what actually works, it would eliminate some trial-and-frustration.
