cd player and speakers

Post by Jarred Hodges »

My 69 F-100 currently does not have a radio or speakers in it. I am wanting to put a modern cd player and speakers in it. I am wondering if anyone has any pics of the installation and where did you mount your speakers. I am not looking for anything crazy just a headunit and maybe 2 speakers. I appreciate your help :D

I got a cd player in mine. I used the Volvo install kit. I have pics on the link in my signature. I put the speakers in the bottoms of the doors. Sounds pretty good. If you ever wanted to, you could take the speakers out and put in uncut door panels to return to a stock look. If you need better pics, just let me know.

Hey Jarred Hodges. Im not sure how to post pictures from my gallery on here. If you go to my gallery, I have pictures of the steps of installing the volvo kit and stereo. I also have pictures of where I have speakers. Hope that helps.

Not a problem. I bought the kits at Circuit City when they were still open. They were like $20.
This is the lower corner of the door panel.

The system sounds really good. I am very happy with it.

I haven't got my CD player mounted yet but I'm gonna cut an old radio bezel to fit it.

PO of my truck put 6X9 speakers in the door panels and the windows wouldn't roll down all the way.
Something to think about before you ruin a good set of door panels.
Mine are sitting in the floor now.
Also, if you put speakers in the doors, make sure you have the proper water shielding. Window seals are never perfect and water will kill your speakers quickly.

If I had been a little better organized and had more time and money to spend on it,
I would have put some speakers down in the rear cab corners while I had my in-cab tank out. Plenty of room back there for a pair of 6X9s. Just make sure that area doesn't leak and they are securely anchored so they don't bounce around.
They would be out of sight back there and once you put the tank back in, they will be tough to get out unless you take the tank out. Think theft prevention.
