door wiggles

Post by hotrod ford »

today when i was stripping the cab down i noticed that the drivers door will move up and down on the hinges i guess. i looked at where the door connects to the mounts and the mounts to the cab. neither move so i think it is the hinges. how do i fix this?

DC sells hinge pin/bushing kits. Very easy fix.

how do you replace door hinge pins on these trucks? You unbolt the door from body and do you drill out or cut off old pin and install new one and bolt door back up? Never done it, so I'm asking, read this and thought about my driver door sag. Banjo.

Take the door off, you can use a scissor jack or something underneath it for support to make the job easier - it's heavy. You will see the hinge pins and bushings are easily replaced as long as the hinge pins did not wear completely through th bronze bushings and oblong the hole in the hinge itself.
The 'Help' door pin kit can be gotten at the parts store, it's Help# 38402 that you need.
