Emergency flasher switch

I have a "Blink Markers" toggle switch from an F750 that I'd like to utilize. It only has 2 tabs on the back. I have looked at my "Emergency Flashers" switch and it has 4 tabs. I've looked for a wiring diagram on FORDification for a 1971 F100 but there are none for that year.
How can I wire this toggle switch to work? Eventually I am going to use the mounting hole for the original Emergency flashers for a manual choke.

The blink markers switch might be only a momentary switch, used for signaling in bigger trucks like your F750.??

That is just a switch used to turn the marker lights off and on (should be a spring loaded switch - normal on - momentary off, but may not that old...). The big rigs do this to the other trucks to let them know they are clear when passing each other.

just move your switch to that location. and get rid of the cab marker (blink to flash) switch.

Actually it isn't a momentary switch. It is a toggle switch, it clicks down from the center position. Then needs to be switched back to center manually, not automaticly. It's only a few wires, I'll figure it out and let everyone know...

Even if it's not momentary, TF is still correct. It's just that some older semis (see avatar) had a regular toggle for the marker function. Driver's just had to remember not to leave it off.

Just to be sure, your saying when the toggle is switched on the markers blink? That's what I want to use it for, but I would think it's just a single throw single poll toggle, or in other words just an on/off switch for a break in one wire. The canister under the dash makes the lights blink, not the switch. I have a fuel delivery problem at the moment so the dash panel is on hold for a little while. I'll revisit this thread when I figure out if this can work.

what you want the switch to do is be a plain toggle. not a momentary flash switch. if its a momentary flash it wotn stay turned on. as soon as you let go of the switch it will spring back off on you. thats why you want a plain on off type of toggle.

That is only a single pole / single throw switch, you need a triple pole single throw switch... Both the front turn wires have to be on separate circuits as well as the rear on a separate one = triple pole = three of the four wires, the fourth wire is the power wire from the flasher. If you were to try to hook the front individual wires and brake wires together for one side of that single pole / single throw switch and the power wire to the other, then every time you use the turn signals all four corners will flash and every time you hit the brakes both front turn lights will light as every thing is now connected... You could use diodes on the front and brake lines so that they still stay isolated and it will work.

Thanks Thunderfoot, that makes sense. Maybe a set of fog lights is what I need.
