Interior Chroming?

Post by 1971Blue390 »

Does anyone out there know a good way to repair the chrome striping on the door panels and instrument panel? I don't want to pay for new parts if I can just touch up the ones I have. I tried looking around, but only seem to be able to find chrome plating for metal, not plastic parts. Has anyone tried using that 'chrome' paint from the auto-parts store? I thought it might work if I taped things out real good, but I'm not sure of the final results, and don't want to make it any worse than it already is.

I've got the same issue. I was looking over some of the newer chrome painting but haven't decided what I might do yet.

I refurbished some original door panels that turned out very nicely! I used some chrome model paint, you know to build car models and stuff like that. I masked off the vinyl stuff and then used a very fine tipped paint brush. Been on there for about a year now and looks great!
