71 f250 Camper Special Tail Lights - Help
I just purchased a 71 Ford F250 Camper Special and I am trying to restore it myself. Yes, even women like classic trucks!
Tail lights are what I am trying to figure out now. The previous owner cut the wires 6 inches past the lights and all wires are hanging down. I can see a connection under the truck from the front which goes all the way back to the back of the truck but I do not know how to make them all work. My front headlights and turn signals work. Sorry for the long explanation but I am new to this. Once I have these rear lights working, I can drive on the street! Yea!

Probably not available new. Junkyards is probably the only place. Or someone here may offer one up.
I think years well past 71 should work or be very close. You could just wire it up yourself. It is not too hard.
Have you got a neighbor that can help out??

Thanks, I'll see who I can find.
Have any idea what 2 long green wires are for, which are coming from a set connected into the fire wall? These 2 were hanging loosely under the truck.

According to the wiring diagram in the link, the colors to the rear lights are:
brown tail
green RH turn/brake
yellow/black LH turn brake
Back-up light wire color is black with a red stripe (black/red).
If you have a test light hook it up to the green wire and see if it gets power by stepping on the brake or activating the turn signal. The chart shows that it is the turn/brake wire for the RH side and only shows one going all the way back. LH side turn/brake wire color is shown as yellow with a black stripe (yellow/black).

Re: 71 f250 Camper Special Tail Lights - Help
wire numbers 282 green is for the right hand turn signal as said before. i dont know why you would have two green wires hanging out from there. only one is required. wire number 285 is brown and is for the tail lights/ brake lights. wire number 283 is yellow /with a black stripe and is for the left hand turn signal. the other green might be for the ground wire. i didnt think of that. althoguth its not shown on the wiring diagram. i ran onto that myself. just find the other end of the wires and tie them together temporaily and see if they work properly. if they dont switch the two wires around and they should work unless the wiring has been cut or messed up in another area.

Does that mean you got the lights working?
