Best Windscreen Cleaner ?

Post by smclaren »

Well I did a search across the whole website for "Best Windscreen Cleaner" ... no hits.

I find it hard to believe that this question/thread wouldn't have been around 10 times or more.

Anyway ... what do you use ?

Now that its winter here, I find that at on cold and wet nights my windscreen has big "patches" across it ... like a leopards skin. Looks terrible and hard to see through.

Give me the good stuff.

the best is vinegar and newspaper. a windex type of product work fine though. just about any kind of glass cleaner. it sounds liek you may have a light greasy type of substand on the glass.

Clean it with Windex.
Once it is clean, treat it with original RainX, and add the other kind of RainX to the washer fluid.

Get the foamy kind that comes in an aerosol can. Available at your favorite parts store. It's what we used in the glass shop that I worked at in college. Much better than Windex, etc.

RainX has a washer fluid that is (besides RainX) also a bug cleaner. Works great, now I just need to buy new wiper blades.

Martin Senour glass cleaner, available thru Napa. Sprayway for inside (tinted windows). Duragloss makes a glass cleaner with a rain repellant that works pretty good as well.

The reason you didn't get any hits is because we don't call it a windscreen. We call it a windshield.

Even after the above suggestions, you still might have problems. I think eastwood sells a glass polishing kit. That might do the trick.

I know this is a old thread. But I am wanting to try the Rain X treatment on my windshields and was wanting know anyone who has tried the product in the past. And of course what they thought of it. Its not very expensive, but just wondering if its a gimmick?

I use Spray Away glass cleaner inside and out and then use Lemon Pledge on the outside. Also use Pledge to clean my bike after every ride. Works great for getting bugs off and keeps them from sticking.

Rain-X is a GREAT product.

I use the original stuff whenever I clean my vehicles, and I use the windshield washer fluid.

I've been using the stuff for YEARS, and I swear by it!!! :woohoo:

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

I didn't see this mentioned so another great product when you get that film on your windshield is good ol American Coke-a-cola. Pour it over the windshield and then clean it with your favorite cleaner and it will take that film off. Something about the acid in it I guess. Makes your wonder what it does to your mouth and body doesn't it? lol
Used it many a times when I was out in the middle of nowhere and it started raining and I couldn't see squat due to the smearing across the windshield.
